Connecting you with solutions to your sports needs.

This past weekend, my son wrapped up his fall baseball season with a 13U tournament, and it was nothing short of exhilarating. His team played their hearts out, showing strong pitching, tight defense, and an aggressive offense. They faced a great team, and the stakes were high—winning this game meant advancing to the final, where they’d compete for that coveted ring. We had a strong start, going up 6-1. But in the last inning, things started to slip. A few errors and some walks later, our lead vanished. The game ended 8-6, with a heartbreaking loss.

As a parent, watching the end was tough, especially seeing the disappointment on my son’s face. He had been a leader on the field, constantly encouraging his teammates, playing well, and giving his all. But then, one error—a missed grounder at third—let the opposing team take the lead. It was a gut-wrenching moment, knowing how much he wanted that win and the effort he’d put into it. It’s those moments as a parent when you feel the ache, wishing you could shield them from the sting of failure.

The car ride home was quiet. But as I reflected, I realized just how powerful this experience was for him—and me. Baseball, like life, is filled with ups and downs, wins and losses. There’s always the next inning, another game, or simply a fresh day. And every setback is a chance to learn, grow, and become stronger.

John Maxwell says it best in The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth, specifically in his “Law of Pain.” He writes, “If you can maintain a positive life stance, you put yourself in the best position to manage bad experiences and turn them into positive growth.” When we manage difficult experiences well, they can be catalysts for growth. Sports provide that classroom; they teach resilience, grit, and the importance of picking yourself up, dusting off, and stepping back up to the plate.

As I look at my role as a parent, I realize the unique opportunity I have to guide my son in these moments. My goal isn’t just for him to be a skilled player. More than that, I want him to learn to take risks, accept failure as part of the journey, stay positive, work hard, and show kindness to those around him. I hope to raise a young man who doesn’t fear setbacks but sees them as fuel for his growth, knowing that life, like baseball, is about the journey.

This weekend may not have ended in victory, but the lessons learned are invaluable. It’s these moments that shape our kids, teaching them that strength lies in resilience, in getting back up, and in moving forward.

When I decided to launch 44 Sports Connect LLC, it all stemmed from a simple yet powerful desire to support my son, a dedicated #44 baseball enthusiast. After dedicating seven years to the demanding security industry, working grueling night shifts and all that jazz, I reached a breaking point. I made the courageous choice to step away, sell my house, and relocate to Tennessee without a concrete plan, driven solely by the need for change to avoid stagnation. For seven fulfilling months, I immersed myself in the role of a devoted baseball dad, attending tournaments and indulging in perhaps a bit too much food. During this time, the seeds of a new business idea began to sprout. With a lifelong passion for sports, assisting others in their growth, and exploring new horizons, I decided to combine all my life experiences into a grand vision. Taking a leap of faith, I honed in on three key focus areas. Collaborating with a College Recruiting Software Company, I embarked on a mission to help student-athletes garner attention from 52,000 coaches nationwide through an innovative profile-building tool. However, what truly ignited my passion was utilizing this platform to educate these aspiring athletes on crafting exceptional resumes, giving rise to 44 Sports Recruiting. My mission is to equip young individuals for the future and cultivate tomorrow's leaders among players, coaches, and parents. Enter 44 Leadership Development, offering personalized coaching, mastermind groups, and engaging discussions on growth and leadership. And lastly, there's 44 Sports Travel, a comprehensive travel agency catering to teams' travel requirements, team-building excursions, sports packages, and adventure sports travel.

With a clearer vision in mind, I would love to connect with you to explore how I can help meet your sports needs.

I am in the process of reading John Maxwell’s 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth, and in chapter 5, The Law of Consistency: Motivation Gets You Going- Discipline Keeps You Growing, John starts out by sharing when he started his speaking career, he thought that if he could motivate and get people going in the right direction, that they would be successful. “I would do my best to give people reasons to work hard. I’d try to make them laugh. I’d try to touch their hearts. I aimed to inspire people so much that they’d be ready to charge hell with a water pistol. When I was done, I’d walk away thinking I’d done a good job. But Often whatever motivation people received didn’t seem to last very long.” John Maxwell (The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth Chpt 5 PG 69) he says that we all need to be motivated, inspired, and encouraged, but if we are going to grow, “Motivation gets you going, but discipline keeps you growing.” (John Maxwell) So, if you are motivated to play at the college level and want to get recognized by coaches, you need to be consistent in your training, your school work, and your character. You will need a game plan and to reach out to these schools and be consistent, not just one e-mail or post one video, but you need to be diligent you have to put the work in, and there needs to be consistency and discipline because the motivation will not always be there. But if you take little steps every day and work on your game plan every day, it will compound into amazing opportunities that can come your way. So get your coaches, family, and friends together and share with them your desire to play at the next level make a game plan with your Academics and your sports-specific training, keep building your character, and have an outreach plan to reach these schools you would like to go to. And be Disciplined and work the Plan Every day! We are here at 44 Sports Recruiting if you need that extra help, we would love to come alongside to empower you and see you fulfill your goals.

“The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” Proverbs 21:5
